The Fo Guang Chinese School of WA was established in 1998 to inculcate Chinese values and traditions in young children and educate them in the learning of the Chinese language through the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Lessons are taught by well-qualified teachers using textbooks, videos and computer programs. Additional lessons in Chinese calligraphy, poetry reciting, singing and dancing, help to develop the students’ awareness and knowledge on Chinese morality, ethics and culture, with an emphasis on Buddhist teachings to provide them with a firm basic belief from young.
Major cultural events are celebrated and students participate through public performances at the temple such as the Buddha’s Birthday Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese New Year, etc, allowing them to gain much exposure and develop a sense of self-confidence.
Classes are held every Saturday at the temple during school terms, from 9 am to 12 noon with tea break and lunch provided after class.
