Buddha’s Light Scouts first originated in Taiwan in 2000. Since then, groups have been set up in various Fo Guang Shan temples all over the world, operating under the umbrella of Buddha’s Light International Association.
Buddha’s Light Scouts WA is the first Buddhist Scout group to be established in WA in 2018 and our emphasis is on implementing the Scout method and incorporating Buddhist values for youths aged 5 – 18 years. There are currently three Buddha’s Light Scout groups in Australia, namely in NSW, QLD and WA, and the only Buddhist based Scout group in Australia.
Our vision is for Scouts to learn and develop in a happy and family-orientated environment with Buddhist values and ethics, and cultivate the practice of the Three Acts of Goodness, that is ‘Do good deeds, say good words, think good thoughts’.The purpose of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.
